The Department of Zoology was established in the year 2013-14 with an aim to provide quality education to post graduate students and to contribute for the development of Animal Sciences and Zoological studies. The Department places greater emphasis on laboratory component in the teaching curriculum and research projects.
- To develop learner centered education and knowledge oriented research of excellence in animal science.
- To help students to build their career in teaching, research and entrepreneurship.
- To provide quality education and research in Animal science.

To create awareness among students to take up higher studies in animal science for their career.

To provide opportunities for students to get themselves exposed to current aspects of animal science, that leads to fetch the opportunities in government and private sectors.

To develop science based entrepreneurship skills in the students.
The Department aims to provide a broad multidisciplinary course in Zoology. To train students in a wide range of science-based skills that provide the learning base for future careers in disciplines such as health sciences, agriculture, pest and environmental management, the emerging biotechnologies, teaching, research and development. The candidate with PG degree has a wide range of opportunity in government as well in private sectors.
To develop in the minds of students a concern for the need to conserve natural resources and to inspire them to spread this message to the society.
To provide opportunities for students to get themselves exposed to current aspects of animal science that leads to fetch the opportunities in government and private sectors and also to develop science based entrepreneurship skills in the students.

A candidate who has passed B.Sc. degree examination with 50% of marks in aggregate (40% for SC/ST/Cat-1 and 45% for OBC) with Zoology as one of the optional subject. |

The Departmental laboratories include having equipments such as Compound and Stereozoom Microscopes, Digital Trinocular microscope with image processing, Water Bath, Distillation Plant, Laminar air flow, Mictrotome, Shaker, Centrifuge, Hot Air Oven, and Incubator, Microplate reader etc.
The Department is technology enabled with six computers and portable LCD projectors.
Field-based Research Reports and Projects, Study tours, Institutional visits, Science Day and Environmental Day Celebration.
