The Department of Physics at Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University started in the year 2012 offers Master of Science (M.Sc.), M.Phil., Ph.D., programme and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) (under NEP 2020). The Department is equipped with modern laboratory equipments and currently offers Nuclear Physics and Condensed Matter Physics specialization.
The mission of the Department is to impart training and research in Physics through theoretical and experimental methods, the fundamental constituents of the world, and to examine the laws which govern their interactions. Top-level training in physics is integrated with the current research, having the purpose to prepare women in facing the challenges of contemporary science, technological and economic development, and also education of younger generations.
The main objectives of the Department of Physics include continuous improvement of the quality of scientific research, the development of innovative curricula and techniques based on research and the latest scientific discoveries, greater visibility and recognition of the Department.

Students who have qualified PUC Science of Karnataka Pre University Education Board or Equivalent 10+2 from recognized Board. | The admission shall be made as per reservation policy and guidelines issued by the Government of Karnataka and also as per KSAWU Vijayapura from time to time. | After the completion of the course students can pursue higher education or can get employed in research organizations, Industries or Banking Sector. |
