The College Development Council (CDC) is an authority of the University and functions as academic guide for the integrated development of affiliated colleges. In consultation with the University the CDC shall take all such steps as it may think fit for the promotion, Coordination and elevating the Standards of education in colleges. It serves as a link between the UGC, the AICTE, the NCTE, the Higher Education Department and Karnataka State Higher Education Council and affiliated Colleges. CDC provides link between the UGC, University and the colleges.
The primary function of CDC is to assist affiliated colleges in applying for permission and affiliation as per Karnataka State University Act 2000. Process the affiliation applications and arrange for LIC visits, process the recommendation made by LIC teams and submit the recommendations to Higher Education, GOK, after duly approved from Academic Council and Syndicate of the University.

- To co-ordinate Major/Minor research projects with the UGC as a part of Faculty Development Programme for teachers of affiliated colleges;
- Assist the colleges to improve and sustain the academic, administrative, online and infrastructural facilities, identify the needs and gaps and to help colleges to realise their potentialities
- Disseminate information and help affiliated colleges to formulate proposals for various developmental grants and schemes of UGC and other funding agencies and, to guide them on effective utilization of these grants and projects
- Encourage college teachers to avail Faculty Development Programme of UGC for Ph.D and post-doctoral studies, travel grant to present papers abroad in International conference/ seminars etc and to apply for minor and major research projects of UGC and other funding agencies
- To help in processing proposals of the affiliated collegesfor inclusion under 2(f) and 12 (B) of UGC Act 1956.
- Implementation of NEP 2020 programmes as per guidelines issued by UGC and KSHEC, GOK.
- Facilitating the college teachers to avail Major and Minor Research Projects from UGC and other funding agencies.
- Assisting affiliated colleges in preparing and submitting Institutional data DCFII on AISHE portal.
- Assisting affiliated colleges in providing subject experts as per UGC guidelines for CAS of affiliated colleges faculty.
- Encouraging colleges towards autonomy as per UGC guidelines.
- Encouraging colleges in getting Colleges with Potential for Excellence (CPE) status.
- Encouraging Colleges in their Assessment and Accreditation by NAAC
- Maintaining statistics related to affiliated colleges.
- Perform any other function deemed necessary by the university for enhancing the quality of the education in colleges or in discharge of societal obligation and responsibilities.
